The Challenge

Before adopting Field Materials construction material management software, Teichert used Excel to manually track materials they ordered, received, and invoiced and had to manually enter each invoice into Viewpoint Vista.

“We were going through every unit price and quantity and putting them into an Excel spreadsheet. Verifying data accuracy was very time-consuming. It would sometimes take us several hours to get through an invoice,” said Zachary Lopez, Teichert’s Underground Materials Coordinator.

On large-scale projects, Zachary and a teammate spent most of the week – up to 5 hours a day – just verifying and auditing invoices, leaving little time for other priorities. Processing a few large invoices often took hours. For a company the size of Teichert, managing budget overruns and maintaining timely and effective communication with suppliers remained a constant operational challenge.

"We're a big company. We're receiving a large volume of invoices and are trying to track and keep the suppliers honest. A lot of times with all the invoices coming in, the suppliers would charge us incorrect pricing or they would bill us for more than we ordered. So we would go over budget or we'd have a lot of extra material that we would need to return."
