Before adopting FM construction procurement software, Suirside Construction relied on a manual ordering process with lots of steps. Site crews used Procore forms to create material requisitions. They were frustrated about how long it took. Foremen had to stop work and navigate multiple systems to submit requisitions. Then they had to wait for the back office to review and email them to suppliers to be quoted. Once a supplier emailed back a quote, the office staff had to upload the quote back to Procore, check pricing, and type up a PO. This process often took up to three days to complete.
When the accounts payable team received supplier invoices, they had to manually enter every invoice into Procore and then re-enter it into Xero. They often printed invoices to make it easier to review them. It took many hours of tedious labor to match invoices to POs, packing slips, and credit notes.
Separately, Suirside’s estimating team struggled to access accurate, up-to-date material pricing. To price new jobs, they often had to search through old Procore records, historical invoices, or email threads.
